The iMac: Thinner, faster, better

Having come up with the excellent idea of combining box and screen with the first iMac (now rightly hailed as a design icon) Apple's designers have done it again

The latest incarnation of the iMac is a cracker. Leaner and meaner than ever, it can pack a whopping 1Tb (that's 1,000 gigabytes) hard drive and an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at up to 2.8GHz.

But let's not get too caught up in the details. Suffice to say, this is one of those moments when form and function are perfectly aligned and with prices starting at just £799 for the smaller 20 inch version (£1,349 for the 24 inch) it won't break the bank.

Mac fans eager to get their hands on one, or any other Apple-related gadgets, software and accessories should head down to next month's MacLive Expo at Kensington Olympia in London on 25-27 October.
