Smile please

GE's new E1050 camera ensures smiles all round

GE enters a crowded market with its first foray into digital cameras, the E1050. The total range includes seven cameras, all of which feature easy-to-use, in-camera panoramic stitching, alongside more standard features, such as image stabilisation and red-eye removal.

But it is the clever "blink and smile detection" features that set these cameras apart from other compacts on the market. If one of your targets blinks while the photo is taken, the camera will suggest you take the shot again.

The top-of-the-range, 10 megapixel E1050 model, due to be launched later this month, is the first digital camera to incorporate HDMI technology and includes a lovely 3-inch, touch-screen LCD. Even with all these features it will retail for a highly competitive £150. An even more advanced model that includes GPS mapping—in case you can't remember where you were when you shot that prize-winning picture—is due out later in the year.
