Sound investment

The downside of being what Cliff Richard once called "wired for sound" is the wires. If their tangle-mongering is irritating you to the extent that you are prepared to throw some money at the problem, Sennheiser has the solution in the new MX W1 headphones.

One for early adopters, the MX W1s are the first portable wireless headphones. With a transmitter attached to your iPod or other personal audio/video player, they receive uncompressed digital sound to a high quality. There's plenty of bass and the trademark Sennheiser's richness to the sound. A "twist to fit" mechanism makes putting them on easy, and they come with a carrying case that acts as a charger.

While you will be blissfully free from wires, you will also have to put up with looking like an extra from an episode of Doctor Who. And you'll have shelled out £300 for the privilege.
